Privacy
We collect as little as we can. No adverts, no tracking, no selling your data.

Who looks after your data
AwenGate is run by Jay, who is responsible for your personal data (the “controller”). Questions or requests: hello@awengate.com.
What we collect
- Your account: email address, username, and password. Passwords are stored scrambled by our login provider; nobody at AwenGate can read them.
- What you post: threads, replies, edits, and when you posted them.
- Reports: if you report a post, who reported it, why, and what you wrote.
- Technical data: like any website, our hosting providers record IP addresses and browser details in short-lived logs, used for security and fixing faults.
Cookies
We only use the cookies needed to keep you logged in. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, so there’s nothing to accept or decline.
Why we use it
- To run your account and the forum: logging in, showing your posts, sending emails you need such as verification and password resets. (The legal basis is our agreement with you when you join.)
- To keep the community safe: handling reports, stopping spam and abuse, and meeting our duties under the Online Safety Act. (Our legitimate interests, and legal obligations.)
We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
What is public
Your username and everything you post can be seen by anyone, including people who aren’t members and search engines. Your email address is never shown.
Who else handles it
We use a few companies to run the site. They only use your data to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: our database and logins. Your data is stored in London.
- Vercel: hosts the website. Pages are built in London; Vercel is a US company.
- Resend: sends our emails. Resend is a US company.
Where data goes outside the UK, these companies protect it with the safeguards UK law requires for international transfers.
How long we keep it
- Your account, until you delete it.
- Your posts, until you or we delete them.
- Reports and records of moderation, for up to two years, so we can deal with repeated problems and show what we did.
Deleting your account
You can do it yourself any time in Settings. Your login, profile and email address are deleted. Your posts stay, shown as “Former member”, so conversations still make sense, unless you choose to delete them too. You can also email hello@awengate.com and we’ll do it for you.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@awengate.com and we’ll reply within one month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
AwenGate is for adults only. If we learn that a member is under 18, we delete their account.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we’ll say so on the forum and update the date at the top.
